Sam trained at Guys & St Thomas’ School of Medicine, graduating with a Triple Distinction in undergraduate medicine (MBBS), while he obtained a Scholarship to study for a First Class Honours in a BSc in Physiology in 2006.

 

His surgical training was undertaken in the Wessex region. He was awarded the Sir Walter Mercer Gold Medal in Trauma & Orthopaedics for the most exceptional examination performance in the UK in 2014. Sam was subsequently appointed as the British Orthopaedic Association Young Ambassador and invited to represent the UK at the Hong Kong International Congress in 2015.

 

Due to his passion for sports, he is dual-qualified in Sports & Exercise Medicine, and was also awarded the McLeod Medal in 2014 again for the best performance in the country. He was subsequently appointed as a Member of the Faculty of Sports & Exercise Medicine (MFSEM).

 

Sam is Fellowship trained in Trauma surgery and advanced Knee surgery. He is an honorary Teaching Fellow at the University of Southampton and holds a national appointment as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and the Clinical Research Lead at the Department of Orthopaedics, Basingstoke Hospital. Sam is also a Research Fellow at the University of Winchester and provide clinical supervision for PhD students. He has published widely on ligament surgery and osteotomy around the knee, and review articles for several orthopaedic journals.

 

His NHS practice is based at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital, where he leads the acute knee service. Sam’s private practice is at both the Candover Clinic and The BMI Hampshire Clinic.
